Sodbury vale YFC
The opportunities YFC give to members is developing social skills, a well-established and immensely varied social life and the chance to compete in a huge range of activities as well as an exchange program and travel scholarships. Yfc age range is from ten to twenty six years. We compete at almost anything, from traditional disciplines like public speaking and stock judging right through to the downright silly, like big bale is and always has been the stuff of legend. pushing and welly wanging. Our social events program
Us Sodbury lot are basically up for a good time! However we do try to enter all the competitions at the county rally. Our emphasis is to have fun and try new things. We all get on well and try to get to all the parties around the region to have a good time and also support other clubs. Now is the time to join Sodbury vale!
We Usually meet at the social club in Horton every Tuesday from 8pm, for a quick meeting and then a social chitchat.
We try and organize outings of some description, not all of them to do with farming, usually Bowling, ice skating, go carting, paintballing, Christmas meal, tour of a brewery, a bit of stock judging, preparations for county rally and lots more.
You don’t have to be from a farming background in order to join young farmers, we are all very open minded people and if your interested in getting to know a bit about it, then we will try our best to show you what being a young farmer is all about.
With a good cause in our hearts we set to raise some funds for Help for Heroes and Gloucester Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre by holding a 24 hour charity ploughing marathon. We had many members, some of whom had never driven a tractor before let alone done any ploughing, working tirelessly through the night, with a firework display finalizing the end of the event. Our members pulled together, working hard to make sure everyone was fed and watered with bacon butties and cups of tea and coffee. our hard work paid off raising a staggering £3500. A great effort by all, but more importantly we had a good laugh and made some amazing memories along the way.
Although we can get a bit competitive we all love spending time with the clubs and meeting people from around the county.
Now we have ticked all your boxes the only thing let to do is get in contact with us, so drop us a text or give us a bell… we don’t bite ;).
