Meet the next member of our County Team for 2018-2019!
A little bit about you…
So I will keep this short as I am not one for a lot of words – and often then they are sarcastic ones!
I was born and raised on my family’s dairy farm by the Severn bridge. We currently farm 120 cows. I went to university at Harper Adams for four years and managed to bag myself a degree in Agriculture which has helped me develop new ways of working on the farm. After University I went travelling for 6 months, travelling through 5 different countries, it was definitely an incredible experience and one that I have fond memories of.
I have quite a few hobbies including cycling, running and LOTS of eating. Any type of food and I am there!
What does YFC mean to you?
As you can imagine running and working on the farm can be hectic and pretty isolating at times but YFC has provided me with an outlet to get out and meet new people on a weekly basis at club and county meetings. I love attending all of the social events and catching up with other friends from far and wide.
YFC has encouraged me to take part in activities that without the organisation I wouldn’t have necessarily had the opportunity or inclination to take part in. My main example being that last year I participated in GFYFC’s pantomime as ‘The King’. Without YFC I can honestly say there is not a chance that I would have gotten involved in any type of staged activity, let alone acting… Just get involved, you might surprise yourself.
What does your role include?
As Rally Chairman I am involved in everything and anything which is related to our rally show and events such as organising Carcase judging and pre-rally, sorting venues, proof reading rules, helping to find judges and stewards and finally putting on a banging rally dance! If you want something different for any of the competition events, then apparently I am the bloke to speak to!
Whatever your background or experience Young Farmers’ has something to offer you, just give it a go!
