Competitions and Results

There are a variety of competitions throughout the year including handicrafts, floristry, baking, cookery, tug of war, skittles, stock judging and speaking competitions. Most are run at County level then move onto the South West Area round before going to the National finals. All members are encouraged to compete within different age ranges, there are also classes from novice to expert. See the diary page for a list of upcoming events.

Competitions and Events

Carcase, Dairy & Milking Day

Our Carcase, Dairy Stockjudging and Milking day is being held on Sunday 24th March 2024. 

The Carcase competition will be held at Universal Traders, Main Road, Minsterworth, Gloucester, GL2 8JX, by kind permission of Graham & Jake Bennett. Sign in at 10:00am. 

Dairy Stock judging and Milking will be held at Brook Farm, Brook Lane, Westbury On Severn, Gloucestershire, GL14 1NE by kind permission of the Stephens Family. Dairy Stock judging sign in at 1.30pm and Milking sign in at 2.45pm.

English Winter Fair - 20 November 2022

On Sunday 20th November 2022 Gloucestershire FYFC sent two teams to compete at the Live & Carcase Competitions hosted by Staffordshire YFC and the English Winter Fair. Our members did very well throughout and the following placed in the top 3:

1st – Marita Warner-King (Lamb Stock Judging), Isla Albutt (Lamb Stock Judging) & Live Lamb Overall Team.

2nd – Katie (Pork Carcase)

3rd – Pork Carcase Overall Team (Steve Bennett and Katie).

A big thank you to Edward Albutt and Donald Gilder for hosting a training session for our teams.

South West Area Competitions Day

Well done to all members that took part in the South West Area Competitions Day hosted at Hartpury College on the 26th June 2022! We had members competing in Junior Stockman of the Year, Fence Erecting, Cube Exhibit, Auctioneering, Junior Tug of War, Ladies Tug of War and Sheep Shearing (which took place at the Royal Three Counties Show the week before). 

Congratulations to Winchcombe YFC (fence erecting team), Jack Harvey (Auctioneer from Tewkesbury YFC), Westbury on Severn YFC (cube exhibit team) and Sarah Dunn (Sheep Shearing) who will be going to through to compete at the NFYFC Finals!
